Ok so it has been sometime since I’ve written a blog but I think its time to get back to it.

So, the New PSL season has begun and we’re going ok but we need to better. We currently sit at 2 wins and 3 losses, now as we can see its only 5 games into the new season but there are some worrying signs from my perspective. We don’t seem to want to fight in games when the other team scores a few runs, our pitching is still trying to find their feet and our hitting is up & down from game to game and innings to innings.

So lets talk about the 2 wins we have both were on a Friday night and were good games, we fell behind to Monarchs but slowly chipped away and took the lead late and held it for a win. Liam & Tyson combined to pitch well and keep us in the game and our hitters didn’t lie down which is what you want.
The second game of the night against Freo was good we controlled the game from the outset. We had runners on most innings, Matty pitched very well to tie there hitters down (albeit some of their players were missing) but a great result non the less.
So, after our 2 games on the Friday we went to Freo’s home ground for a late game carrying confidence, it was very short lived to say the least. They just jumped on us early and didn’t look back not giving us any hope of being in the game. Our at bats weren’t up to the standard we would normally like them but that’s the game, I guess. So, then we had a weekend off due to Easter, which I’m sure everyone enjoyed.
It still looked like a lot of people were liking the time off because when we turned up to Freo again for a late game the game was over in the 2-3rd innings. It’s a really hard thing to try and wrap your head around trying to figure out why our games are going so poorly. Is it a mental thing? Are the other teams just better than us at this point? Are we going to get better? Are we just looking forward to playing Tourneys? Are we just a very good Tourney team but suck when it come to the real games? These are questions that will be answered in time but the majority of this team has been together for a long time but haven’t really reached their full potential and its sad coz we should be dominating everyone but we’re not.
Now to how I’m going personally in all of these games, to put it as blunt as I can………S**t. I haven’t been to many trainings so far due to a work and it’s really showing, I need to sort my mechanics out at the plate. I’ve got a really lazy top hand at the moment which is a by product of not playing for 6 months (during the summer) so this week il be heading to training to do some tee work and might even get Gaz to help me a bit, he’s always good to chat to too sort stuff out. Then I guess when it comes to games, I need to change my approach. For too long I’ve shouldered a lot of the pressure of playing well for this team and @ my age now a lot more people need to stand up and be accountable. To many passengers not enough leaders.
